Movies I watched – June 2007

First of all this is not a movie review or comparison of of that sort. I just wanted to write something about some of the movies I watched during the month of July, 2007. If you are interested in knowing more about these movies, just check on Wikipedia or IMDB or just Google.

This list is only of the films that I watched on DVDs and downloads, and does not include those I watched on television.

  1. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) : Set at a high school where a new transfer student, Cameron, is interested in the popular girl Bianca. But Bianca’s overprotective father forbids her to date unless her older sister Katerina, an unpopular and hostile senior, does. In a bid to get Katerina a boyfriend, Cameron sets up a plan to have the school student, Joey Donnar, bribe Patrick Verona, an outcast senior, to take Katerina out on dates so he can go to the school’s homecoming dance with Bianca. However, neither Pat or Kat expect their ‘going steady’ to lead where nobody expects it too.
I would say this is a romantic comedy, and a nice movie to watch if can get a DVD.

  2. The Virgin Suicides (1999) : I don’t know why I watched this, and I still don’t understand what they were trying to say through this movie. May be I’m less knowledges to understand the complicated storyline…! Its about the suicides of five sisters, set in the 70’s. And the reason for their suicides is never told till the end, may be their parents were over protective and they could not full fill their ‘teenage desires‘.

  3. 8 Mile (2002) : believed to be the semi-biographical of Eminem, and it is about how a young rapper in struggles with his anger through music, and basically many incidents resembles that of Eminems real life. I think I’m late to watch this movie.

  4. The Italian Job (2003) : An action adventure film, about well a planned robbery that starts from Venice, Italy and ends in Los Angeles, California . Many breaking vaults, hacking into traffic systems to make a major traffic jam. Also there is the MINI Coopers used in which are cool. This is for those who want action plus hacking plus breaking, etc.
  5. Banlieue 13 (2004) – French : Set in the ghettos of Paris in 2010, an undercover cop and ex-thug try to infiltrate a gang in order to defuse a neutron bomb. Though I don’t understand a single word in French, I enjoyed watching. Specially the stunts(Parkour) are amazing and this movie feels pretty realistic as a social commentary.
  6. The Girl Next Door (2004) : A teenager’s dreams come true when a former porn star moves in next door and they fall in love. He fails in making his dream of winning a speech completion to win a scholarship to a prestigious college, but he gets his own scholarship with his unique idea for a movie with is girl friend, who is ‘The Girl Next Door’.

  7. American Pie 4: Band Camp (2005) : Matt Stifler wants to be just like his big bro, making porn movies and having a good time in college. After sabotaging the school band, he gets sent to band camp where he really doesn’t like it at first but then learns how to deal with the bandeez.
Many hidden cameras, secret video recordings of girls bathroom and finally erases all and helps out the band leader win the scholarship she wanted and wins her love too… Another romantic comedy watch if you get a chance.

  8. American Pie 5: The Naked Mile (2006) : When Erik Stifler gets a guilt free pass to do ‘whatever he wants‘ from his girlfriend who is not ready to loose her virginity as she thinks she is not ‘ready’, at a time when Stifler is facing the conciquences of being a virgin Stifler. He and his two best friends head to see his cousin Dwight for the Naked Mile and a weekend they will never forget.
When you are in real love it is hard to make ‘love’ with another person… I’m not sure… May be… Didn’t get a chance yet… But the movie says so…

So this is just more for a CSE undergrad, who is around assignments and projects…. But I did and now its time to me to finish the demo due tomorrow…!
