Now the Entrée package is Rs.500 (+VAT) which was Rs.1,000 (+VAT), and the Home package is Rs.1,600 (+VAT) from the early Rs.2,250 (+VAT). Both these packages have 128kbps upload speed and 512kbps download speed with dynamic IP, while the Entrée package has a monthly usage limit of 1024MB/1GB.

SLT has also added some new packages. The Xcite package which has 256kbps upload and 1024kbps download speeds with dynamic IP is priced at a montly rental of Rs.2,900 (+VAT). They have also added Office, Office 1IP (512k Up / 2048k Down) and Xcel, Xcel 1IP (512k Up / 4096k Down) packages, in which 1IP packages have an additional Static IP with DNS Hosting, Virtual Mail Service and Web Hosting.

The leaflets in Tamil and Sinhala leaked from some internal sources show some details about these new “reduced charge” packages. But when I tried to get a confirmation from SLT they denied any such offer being given out. May be they will announce it in a day or two. So just check with them…!

Also I’m not gonna get any advantage out of this as this is only for the new connections purchased at the exhibition. So can I just disconnect the present one and get a new connection…?!!

“Fujitsu Siemens Computer customers are entitled to a replacement Lifebook every three years for the purchaser’s lifetime, at no cost,” claims the terms and conditions of the scheme, which cunningly excludes customers from passing the contract on to their offspring in a will.

But there is a small catch with this scheme. Terms and conditions specifically states, ”If customers fail to register their notebook within 21 days of purchase, they lose out, and if the initial sales receipt is lost then they will not be able to claim a replacement notebook. If at any point a customer fails to take an upgrade, then they will also be ineligible for any future laptops.”

The company says it is still working on establishing the price of the three year warranty. Currently this scheme is only available in the UK.

We all understand clearly that poverty ‘exists’. So where I stand in the fight against poverty, what I have done, and what I could do? I was just thinking of these simple questions and I find no answer within me.

Poverty is something that the mankind has seen from the days we first had wealth. So this is not another new crisis. But the so call big headed economist and policy makes of the world had failed badly in finding a solution to eliminate poverty from the world. They have just kept the deadlines extended from 2000 to 2020 to whatelse. But nothing has changed in a big scale.

But, still we can make a change, if every individual things of way he/she can help in this path of eleminating poverty. As an individual, I don’t have proper plans upto now what I’m going to do about this. But I’m going to use this as an opportunity to read on this, learn on this and then try to execute those what I can.

I do invite everyone on this is Blog Action Day, to read and adopt some of these things and action you can do as individuals.
